Wonky Cake Card - Layered Inking

Spring is here…and it's time for celebrations.  You're going to need lots of cards this time of year…Mother's Day, graduations, birthdays…they all seem to come around this time of year.  Today's project is perfect for your spring occasions.  With a quick change of sentiments, your celebrations will be covered.

I used the Studio Calico Camelot card kit stamp set to stamp my wonky cake.  This set has a fabulous mix of cake layers, flowers and sentiments.  The variety of sentiments makes it really versatile.  I knew I wanted the cake to be black and white and then later add a punch of color with the fabulous flowers included in the stamp set.

I used a layered ink technique to add depth to the flowers on the card front.  I saw this technique a few months ago over on Jennifer McGuire's blog (you can see that specific post here).  I knew I wanted the flowers to be special since the base of the cake was so simple.  This technique gave the flowers the wow factor they needed to stand out against the bold black and white backdrop of the cake.

I have included a how to video below that will walk you through the entire creation of this card.

I've also included links to all the products used in this project below.

Thanks for stopping by today!  I hope you enjoyed today's project.  Check back next week.  I'm going to have a great paper organization project for you!  Have a fabulous day!
