Colored Pencils On Colored Card Stock - Two Quick And Easy Cards
Hi everyone! I’m excited to share a couple of stationery inspired projects featuring the Fancy Blooms stamp set from Pinkfresh Studio.
These minimalist cards are quick and easy to put together….and quite honestly, while they’re not one layer, they’re as close to one layer as this girl gets.
I was inspired by a photo that I saw on Pinterest…and decided to create cards with a similar feel. If you want to see my original inspiration piece, you can check it out on Pinterest by clicking HERE.
I like to use things other than actual card projects for inspiration…because it keeps me from inadvertently crossing into the copy zone. I often use things like home décor and fashion photos as inspiration for my card projects when I’m lacking inspiration in my own little brain.
I’ll show you exactly how these cards came together in today’s video tutorial. Be sure to check that out.
I created a mask with a die and used both the positive and negative portions of the mask to create the cards today. One utilizes a simple rectangle and the stamping is on the outer portion. The other uses the leftover frame, keeping the stamping on the inner portion. Both are beautiful options.
To color these images on the kraft colored cardstock that I chose, I used my Polychromos colored pencils. Love the wide range of colors included in the large pack of pencils. However, you can try this technique with other brands of colored pencils as well. The colored pencils are opaque and effectively block out the kraft color underneath. You can also do this on darker colored card stocks too!
Since the colored pencils can make the black stamped lines a little dull, I traced over the stamped images with a Copic multi-liner after I was finished coloring. If I had done my stamping in my MISTI, I could have simply loaded my cards back in the MISTI and stamped again.
I wanted to keep these cards clean and simple. And to add just a touch of shine, I accented the frames with copper and gold embossing powders.
Simple cards…with a beautiful custom stationery like vibe. I love the way these turned out!
Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you enjoyed these projects. Until next time, I hope you have a fabulous day!
