For today's project, I'm using my favorite stamp and die set from the Essentials By Ellen Holiday 2016 release. I love the retro vibe and bold sentiments in the Fat Pants stamp set. There's a ton of versatility in this stamp set. You can even create your own Santa or snowman.
I'll be using a color scheme that isn't traditionally a Christmas color scheme. But since we're celebrating Christmas in the middle of July, I figured I'd go with a color scheme that's bright and summery. I think this bold color combo pairs nicely with the retro vibe of these fancy ornaments.
Since this is a close to a one layer card as I will probably ever get, I kept this card clean and simple. I added dimension to the ornaments by stacking up several die cuts on top of each other. This gives these ornaments the feel of a chipboard embellishment. To create a variance in the dimension, I stacked one of the ornaments with a total of 4 die cuts and one with a total of 6 die cuts.
I rarely stamp inside of my card, but I thought this was the perfect card to add an inside sentiment too. I stamped It's Christmas inside of my card. We all know we lose our bobbles at Christmas time...or am I the only one?
I've linked to the supplies I've used in this project below. I've also included a video tutorial walking you through the entire creation of this card. You'll find the stamps and dies I've used to create this card in the Christmas In July sale category over at EllenHutson, so be sure you don't miss your chance to save 40% on these stamps and dies. Be sure to check it out. I'd love if you would subscribe while you're there too!
Last year, I created another card with this stamp set. You can check that out by clicking HERE.
I finished the card off with just a few sparkly elements. I always think the finishing touches on a clean and simple card are key. I used some clear droplets from Pretty Pink Posh and some Nuvo Glitter drops to keep the sparkle on the retro vibe/clean and simple side of things. I also used some Wink Of Stella over my ornaments to add a some serious shimmer to those colorful ornaments. Love me some shimmer.
So there you have it. Christmas In July with a fun and funky color combo perfect for some summer cards...or for a twist on the traditional Christmas color scheme. I hope you enjoyed this project. Don't forget to hop along to the next stop on the hop. For more information, be sure to visit The CLASSroom blog!
